Destins Croisés and its choreographer Ismaël Mouaraki are the proud co-awardees of the Prix Envol, ex aequo with the company Tentacle Tribe, that rewards the excellence of the cultural diversity of the Montreal dance community. Founded in 2003 by French-Moroccan-Canadian choreographer and dancer Ismaël Mouaraki, the Montreal-based dance company Destins Croisés brings together urban cultures and contemporary performing arts in choreographic frescoes that question the individual, our society and its social and cultural challenges.
The award highlights Destins Croisés’ 15th anniversary, which the company celebrated with the creation of two works presented in 2019: oZe, a creation for youth inspired by the Wizard of Oz, and Phenomena, sparked by the current technological evolutions. We want to congratulate Tentacle Tribe, with whom we are sharing this wonderful prize, a beautiful tribute and symbol to urban dance and to the values of inclusion and diversity!
